Ademe Omi represents the knowledge inherited and accumulated over generations,
passed down to me, as well as everything I have experienced and learned in my lifetime.
It is a platform that gathers different projects, all connected to who I am and what moves me.
I'm AnouchK Yvonne Ibacka Valiente, Afro-Cuban, born in Cuba in 1971 to a Cuban mother and a Congolese father.
I have spent most of my life in Europe and am currently based in Berlin, Germany.
I am Agender (Trans Non-Binary) and challenge binarity as much as I can.
I am part of the Yoruba belief system, brought to Cuba by enslaved people and passed down through generations.
My long-standing practice grounds me, gives me strength and allows me to hold space for myself and others.
Through my practice and journey, I have learned and unlearned and continue to do so.
In our lifetime we are here to learn and unlearn as much as we can, want and need.
All of us carry pain - some of it accumulated, some inherited from family members without even knowing it.
We need to heal from destructive patterns, nourish self-love and learn how to be compassionate.
Being on a healing journey also allows us to bring healing energy to those around us.
The more of us engage in an healing process, the better we can be with each other.
And the sooner we start,
the deeper we can connect into our capacities as human beings and expand our strength, our kindness and our light.
